ART SPECS

File Format

  •  Adobe Illustrator is the preferred File Format for Flexo Printing
  • PDF’s are also acceptable. Please export as an Adobe Illustrator PDF. (*this keeps layers intact.)
  • Photoshop les can be accepted. Note, If using photoshop to design *Please Read Special Note under Resolution Section.   

Embedded Images

  •  Please embed all placed graphics and images before sending nal print le.
  • Embedded Images should be 300 dpi. Anything higher has no a ect when printed.
  • Make sure if exported to a PDF that all images are embedded.



* NOTE: When the artwork is sent to another computer without embedding the images, Illustrator is unable to locate the les because it will look for them on your computer not on the computer the le is now residing on

Color

  •  File should be designed in CMYK. If les are not designed in RGB, then the le will have to be converted back to CMYK.
  • If intending to print PANTONE Colors, make sure Document Color Mode is set to CMYK.



* NOTE: Files designed in RGB, will have to be converted to CMYK. This will create a signi cant color shift and will produce unsatisfactory results.

Stroke Lines

  • Stroke Lines need to be a minimum of 0.25pt. Reversed out Stroke Lines need to minimum 0.5pt.

Bar Codes

  • Bar Codes should be one color, preferably black.
  • Bar Codes should be preferably Vector.

Fonts

  • Fonts can be converted to outline
  • If fonts are left as live fonts, all fonts will have to be supplied.
  • Smallest type size 4.5pt. We recommend sanserif fonts be used for sizes between 4.5 to 7pt. Avoid reverse type under 8pt.

Resolution

  • For best result, les should be created at 300 dpi


* Higher resolutions will not result in a better print product, but lower resolutions can result in a disappointing product. 

* PHOTOSHOP FILES: If les are designed in photo shop, note that all les must be 300 dpi and all text should be set in Adobe illustrator. Photoshop is designed for editing photos. If text is set in Photo shop, it will be rasterized and the edges will be pixelated. Illustrator is a vector format program, which preserves the sharpness and qaulity of text. If art is designed in photoshop, then import it back into Illustrator and embed.

Bleeds

  •  All artwork needs to have a bleed to ensure a high quality product.
  • Bleeds need to extend a minimum of a 1/16” to an 1/8” on all four sides.



* NOTE: A bleed extends beyond the nal trim and allows for minimal shifting during the cutting process.

Tints & Gradients

  •  Gradiant Screens can range from 2% to 100%.
  • Gradients should not drop to 0% as Hard Edge Lines noticeably print.

Nutrition Facts

  • Nutrition Facts should be one color, preferably black.
  • Nutrition Facts should be preferably Vector.

    The preferred file format for a custom label is Adobe Illustrator, but we can accept PDF files provided they are print-ready. Files under 10mb may be emailed to prepress@regencylabelsinc.com. Our FTP upload can be accessed at http://www.regencylabelsinc.com/newupload.
